showcase #5 w/ Lawrence Kudria + Lucas Dewulf

Showcase #5

During Showcase #5, we focus on analogue and digital immersion.

What does it mean to collectively or individually step into another shared space? How do we relate to our own bodies and to the bodies of others? How can immersive worlds create frameworks in which we can reflect on identity, emotion, vulnerability, and taboo?

The invited artists are Lawrence Kudria (UA) and Lucas Dewulf (BE).

Showcase #5 opens to the public on 10.09 from 18:00–22:00.

The exhibition can subsequently be visited on Friday 11.09 from 16:00–19:00 and Saturday 12.09 from 13:00–18:00.

On Sunday 13.08 from 14:00 to 17:00, you can take part in the Live Action Role Play (LARP) These Violent Delights by Lucas Dewulf.

This LARP was co-produced by De Grote Post (Ostend) and explores structural forms of violence. What spaces exist in our society to give violence a place? How do we deal with an unjust society, and what does this do to us?

Lawrence Kudria (UA)

Lawrence Kudria is a Ukrainian-born media artist whose practice brings together immersive media, somatic interaction, and poetic minimalism. Through artistic and technological research, his work focuses on XR, multisensory design, and interactive systems, exploring how mediated environments can foster intimacy, trust, and shared vulnerability.

Drawing on a phenomenological perspective and lived experience, Kudria approaches technology as a framework for sensory awareness and co-presence. His installations invite quiet introspection and present technology as a pathway towards connection, equality, and freedom, offering alternative ways of perceiving, relating to one another, and being together.

In 2026, Lawrence Kudria received a development grant from the Flemish Arts Decree and is currently presenting his work at FILE Festival São Paulo (Brazil).

Lucas Dewulf (BE)

Lucas Dewulf is an artist, educator, and curator who explores and creates immersive experiences.

In his artistic practice, he develops experiences centred on human connection. An important aspect of his work is exploring the possibilities of digital technology to examine the physical world and question our analogue nature within virtual space.

Lucas Dewulf is the recipient of the Henry van de Velde Award 2024 and has received support for several projects from VAF and Breedbeeld.
